The Stonemaier Games Wingspan Asia Expansion Board Game is several different things. It is a stand-alone game for 1 player or 2 players (Duet mode that can be used with any bird/bonus cards), a card expansion to the original Wingspan (any bird/bonus cards across any Wingspan game or expansion can be combined), and a 6-7 player expansion via the new Flock mode (for which the player components from the core game are necessary). This third expansion to Wingspan focuses on birds chosen from over 2,800 species living in Asia. The game features an Automa solo mode designed for use with the duet map or with the original game’s solo components.

It includes 2 rulebooks (multiplayer and Automa), an appendix, 2 player mats (double-sided with standard and Oceania sides), 16 action cubes (8 in each color), duet mode (2 players) 1 duet map, 6 goal tiles, 30 duet tokens, and 2 swift-start guides, flock mode (6-7 players) 1 turn-order dial, 1 round-end goal board, Automa (solo mode), 81 food tokens, 30 egg tokens (wooden), 5 food dice, a birdfeeder board, a bird tray, a first-player token, a scorepad (custom printable scoresheets available here), a box, 90 bird cards, 14 bonus cards, and 18 Automa cards.

Modes

In duet mode, compete head-to-head against an opponent over map-based goals; place a token on the map wherever you play a bird. In flock mode, there are always 2 active players using only their group’s cards/dice, though all players interact via goals and bird powers.

Compatibility

The Wingspan Asia is completely compatible with the original game and expansions, including the 90 new bird cards and 11 new bonus cards.
