Old Masters 3605 90004 Pure Tung Oil (1-Quart)
The Old Masters 3605 90004 Pure Tung Oil creates a beautiful, hand-rubbed finish. This product provides durable water and alcohol resistant oil finish that will not crack, chip, or peel.
Where to Use
Tung Oil is recommended for use on the interior, bare wood surfaces. Ideal for use on antiques and fine furniture.
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from dirt, wax, grease, glue, and other contaminants or penetration and adhesion will be affected.
Application
Apply Old Masters Tung Oil with a lint-free cloth or by hand. On large surfaces or in high humidity, thinning with mineral spirits will improve the application. Up to one (1) part mineral spirits to one (1) part Tung Oil may be used; however, thinning beyond this ratio will result in non-compliance with VOC regulations. When the entire area has been coated, wipe off excess oil with a soft, lint-free cloth. If a second coat is desired, allow the first coat to dry, then rub down with 0000 steel wool. Repeat steps 1 and 2. Do not apply more coats than the wood can absorb.
Thinning
Up to one (1) part mineral spirits to one (1) part Tung Oil may be used; however, thinning beyond this ratio will result in non-compliance with VOC regulations.
Coverage
Approximately 300 to 400 square feet per gallon depending upon the method of application and the type and porosity of the wood.
Drying Time
Apply when air and surface temperatures are between 60 and 90-degree F and humidity is between 30% and 70%. At 50% relative humidity and 70-degree F, 100% Tung Oil will dry in approximately 8 to 12 hours.
