Allethrin for Ultimate Protection

The key to creating Thermacell’s unique 15 x 15-foot zone of protection is allethrin. All devices operate on a single butane cartridge, which heats a repellent mat releasing allethrin, a synthetic copy of the natural repellent found in chrysanthemum flowers.

How it Works

Thermacell repellent devices are powered by a butane cartridge. Butane provides the cordless, portable heat that activates the devices. The heat generated by the butane cartridge is directed to a metal grill. A small mat saturated with repellent is inserted on top of the metal grill. Heat disperses the repellent from the mat into the air, creating the zone of protection. Each mat provides a maximum of 4 hours mosquito repellency. For easy assessment, mats turn from pale blue to white when mosquito repellent has been used up and needs to be replaced.
